Broadcast Mix & Vimeo Livestream
Build a stream-specific mix, loudness targets, mono compatibility, and a reliable Vimeo go-live procedure.
Learning objectives
- Configure a stable Wing → AES50 → X32 → iD14 → Vimeo path
- Hit practical loudness/headroom targets
- Create a pre-service stream checklist
- Recover from common go-live audio failures quickly
Broadcast mix priorities
- Speech intelligibility first
- Stable average level (Wing FOH rides should not hijack the X32 stream path)
- Less extreme low end than a hyped PA
- Less harsh high end than a bright room
- Mono-compatible: many watch on phones
- Safety limiting before the interface
Practical target
Aim for strong, clean levels into Vimeo without slamming. If platform normalization exists, clipped input still sounds ruined. Headroom > “hot”.
Vimeo go-live runbook
- Computer power settings: never sleep; disable surprise OS updates mid-service.
- Confirm iD14 selected as audio input in encoder/Vimeo workflow.
- Pre-live private check: speak on pastor mic + play music bed; watch platform meters if available.
- Assign a human to monitor the public stream on a phone (LTE, not venue Wi-Fi) for true viewer experience.
- If audio dies: mute stream announcement slide → check app device → iD14 meters → X32 stream outs → AES50 link → Wing source.
Lab — full dry-run
- Do a 20-minute mock livestream with real band OR playback + speaking.
- Have someone watch on cellular and text issues in real time.
- Write a 8-line emergency card taped at FOH/stream desk.
Video tutorials
Curated watch-list. If an embed is unavailable, use the YouTube link — then come back and do the lab. Watching without the lab is only half-training.

Module quiz
Need 70% to pass
1. Who should monitor the public stream during service?
Why: FOH cannot hear what Vimeo viewers hear. Assign a stream monitor person.
2. Stream audio suddenly silent, room/Wing FOH still fine. Best first checks?
Why: Room OK means Wing is alive — search AES50 → X32 → iD14 → app.
