Keep these open during services. Pros don’t memorize everything — they build external brains (checklists, labels, glossaries).
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| FOH | Front of House — the mix for the congregation in the room (your FOH console is the Behringer Wing). |
| Wing | Behringer Wing digital console — FOH preamps, room mix, monitors as configured. |
| AES50 | High-channel digital snake protocol connecting Wing → X32 for multichannel audio. |
| Digital split | Copy of stage channels sent to a second console; yours arrive raw with Wing gain applied. |
| Gain / Trim | Input level. Primary preamp gain is on the Wing; X32 may use digital trim for fine control. |
| Headroom | Safety space between your peaks and clipping. |
| HPF | High-pass filter — reduces low frequencies. |
| Bus / Aux | A mix path for monitors, groups, FX, or stream. |
| Matrix | Additional mixer fed from buses/mains — great for stream feeds. |
| DCA | Digitally Controlled Amplifier (control group for levels). |
| GR | Gain reduction — how much a compressor is working. |
| DI | Direct Input box for instruments. |
| Phantom (48V) | Power for condensers/active DIs via XLR. |
| Latency | Delay through digital systems; stability > extreme-low for stream PCs. |
